SPEAKING
Speaking
Tanya preaches, teaches, and speaks to diverse audiences on various issues involving faith, power, & justice in the communities in which we live. Tanya is at home within the confines of a new church-plant with 10 members in the rural south, within the space of a mega-church within the inner-city of an impoverished community, within the outside tents of a church in Zimbabwe, a theological consortium in Indianapolis, or the street corners in Washington D.C. promoting a message of love, hope, and healing by dealing with our own issues, working through our own trauma's and metaphysically transforming our reality through the teaching of the Law of One. Tanya possesses a profound mix of intellectual prowess, the uncanny ability to tell a great story that connects you to foundational text and enlivens that ability of transformation within you, and a way to paint a picture in your minds eye to get down to the mechanics of purpose within Scripture. In this, Tanya is able to lead people into a transformational experience which empowers the listener to reflect on their own lives so that their love for The Most High deepens and their commitment to helping develop a just world is reinvigorated.

Womanist Theology in a Masculine Theocentric Society
Womanist Theology is a reflective form of theology which considers the religious and the many nuanced perspectives of morality as the centralized component of its methodology with regards to People of Color. This theological premise aims to tackle issues directly relating to class, gender, sex, sexism, sexuality, sexual exploitation, race, equity, justice, and liberation as theological issues. As such, womanist theology seeks to view Scripture through a lens that promotes a positive analysis of research of the socio-historical perspective of the lives and religious worldviews of Women of Color to work towards the eradication of oppression (classism, racism, sexism, & social stratification) in the lives of POC, particularly Women. In addition, it is to seek ways to advocate for justice-based spirituality and include ecological perspectives such as health care, sexuality, and the culture of workplace & social politics. In this conversation, it is the premise that the systems employed within the religious confines and our acclimation to those systems are steeped in masculine power and privilege and has thus shaped the history of the Church (and other religious traditions), the history of traditional biblical interpretation and the content and context of the biblical narrative and as such continuously justifies oppression, silencing, and exclusion of women in all areas of life except for the allowed patriarchal based privileged spaces which do not presume the ability to assume power or leadership privilege. We will explore the intersectionality of power and privilege with regard to race, ethnicity, class, sex & sexuality, (dis)ability, post-colonialism and the perception of equity vs equality with respect to the marginalization of the bodies of POC (particularly women) juxtaposed to the priority given mostly to the privileged - which includes white, well-educated, middle-class, Western feminists - who often assume the premise that the experience of all woman are the same which in and of itself is problematic and detrimental to the needs of most of humanity.
Understanding Dimensions of Sexuality & Gender within a Non-Conformist Ideology
In this conversation, we set as a premise that ideology is the cultural beliefs which justify social arrangements which include patterns of inequality where dominant groups use these cultural "consistencies" to justify systems of inequality to maintain their in-groups social power over out-groups which is perceived to lack in political-, social-, and economic power. We apply this lens and understanding of ideology to overlay the canvas within the varying dimensions of sexuality and both gender expression and performance. This conversation seeks to bring perspectives from the religio-social context to rethink our patterns of forced marginalization and subjugation of those seeking to build within their own POC communities but are forced out due to a mindset which diminishes the privileges of those seemingly outside of the ideological norm.

As a survivor of domestic violence, Tanya Alkhaliq has decided that the education of women (and men) from a spiritual perspective is needed for the cycle of violence to come to an end. Tanya teaches that with a strong rooted foundation of knowledge, a person can and will survive domestic violence and bring the cycle of abuse “by-products” to an end. Tanya is the founder of “Just a Sista Away”, which is an outreach devoted to helping young-ladies and women become self-sufficient. She focuses on liberating, uplifting, empowering and educating women to become who they were called to be by knowing where one has come from, seeing where one is, and developing a plan to get to the other side of present circumstances.
