“Zedek” simply means one who rules justly and righteously and takes joy in justice; however, there is more to the story than the simplicity of function. We understand that the Zedek is someone who has been given the authority to change the natural order and flow of life. A Zedek stands between this world and the spiritual world in order to show the Glory of G-d in the earth their righteous action and establishment of justice before the people.

So what does that have to do with Melchizedek and surrender and how does that equate to us becoming Melchizedek through surrender. I'm glad that you asked! Melchizedek means that the righteousness of the individual in this world is overseen by the authority and kingship of the Most High, so therefore, to be Melchizedek means that you speak and influence life (both yours and others) in your presence as you become the receptacle of divine authority to be just and righteous in this world. You have become the righteousness of G-d stemming from beyond this world, you therefore are a light to the nations bringing this light of the other world into this world! The Most High is instructing us to live BEYOND what we've been taught and to live in that life that extends directly from Him by surrendering to WHO HE HAS CALLED FORTH IN YOU!
